Lake Louise World Cup ski race

I've been wanting to go up to Lake Louise and see a World Cup ski race for a long time now, and since I was going up to Canada to spend thanksgiving with Queenie, I decided to stop by and check out the Super G race on Sunday and take some pictures. I think this is Natko Zrncic-Dim of Croatia above. Below is Ivica Kostelic, one of my favorites to watch on TV, and this time I was right behind the CBC TV crew.

Bodie Miller got 9th and is amazing to watch and great with his fans. I love his attitude about skiing and winning. He says he just wants to ski his best, and winning the race is secondary. I think that's totally healthy when it comes to sport. Anyone else can say they don't care about beating out the other guy and just want to ski their best, but he can really get away with it as he's one of the best ski racers in U.S. history. I thought the media was totally unfair with him in Torino. He can't win any time he wants, as ski racing just isn't like that. It totally depends on the conditions and when you start. I think if he'd started late in the day on this race he probably would have won. Anyway he seems to be outside of the bubble and I like that.

Didier Cuche, on the other hand, wants to win and always does it with style. He was also great with us fans. He got second and won the downhill the day before. It was great to be able to see him in person. I got a picture of him doing his famous ski flip but this one was much better.

All in all it was great to see these guys do their thing in person. Having said that, It was nice to watch the downhill on TV too the day before from the comfort of Queenie's sofa...

WOW!! What great pictures!! Really fantastic! It's so wonderful that you got to go see these men that you idolize in person, finally. :D

You can tell the wind in the flags of the lodge behind Bodie there. It's too bad that the wind created such a hard environment for both skiing and spectating that day.

... it was really great watching the races with you too... :*

Yes it was great. I've seen Bodie before at a recreational race I was in, but it was cool to see them in a regular World Cup Race. It was just as much fun watching the race on your sofa though.
