I wandered around in the forest for a while yesterday. The Tamaracks are changing color and it's starting to give the forest a golden tint. There are other trees in this picture too. Pine and fir. I thought I should throw some color in my blog before winter sets in and all of my pictures are of snow.

Those are some nice trees. They look awfully quiet.

ReplyDeleteSo do both the larch and the tamarack drop their needles in the winter then? I bet the smell there was outstanding!!!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I understand Tamarack and Larch are two different names for the same tree.
ReplyDeleteThey do loose there needles, although I guess they are actually thin little leaves. They also have cones.
First they turn light green, then yellow, then gold and then they drop and cover the forest floor. They are just starting to turn here and it's really beautiful.
It did smell good in the forest.
