Last boat trip to Wild Horse Island

I made my last boat trip to Wild Horse Island for the year. It was as if I was boating out of the color of summer and into the grey of winter.

Wow, yeah... that's exactly what that photo depicts! Still, the calmness of the water and the stillness of everything else around there probably made the idea of winter a little easier to accept. How great that you got in an extra trip to WH!

There are some really nice rocks there too.

You have captured the way the lake looked that day for sure! Very similar to the Park. I really wish they'd keep Big Arm campground open longer...

I totally agree. I think there should be way more public access to the lake than there is.

Even if they made the state parks pack it in pack it out for the off season, and honor system payment I think people would comply.

I agree with you about the honor system. There are many campgrounds open all year on that basis provided you can get to them. And they are free during the winter. It's one of my pet peeves about the state park system - make it available!

The bad thing about Flathead is that there are only a few campgrounds for how big the lake is. Few remaining RV parks as well.
