All women are beautiful

I bought a new CD today, Marisa Monte "Infinito Particular". Samba music from Brazil. Makes me feel like I'm driving a Sunbeam Alpine sports car down a winding seaside road with Natalie Wood at my side. She's wearing white sunglasses and has a scarf over her hair.

I love that time. She was such a beauty. She was Russian. I found that out on Wikipedia. No wonder she was so beautiful. Her real name was Natalia Nikolaevna Zakharenko. I was thinking today, women from Brazil are so beautiful. And then I thought to myself, women from Russia are beautiful also. Perhaps women from Brazil and Russia are the most beautiful women in the world,. I thought as I worked.

It made me remember a conversation I had with my friend who owns a hair styling salon. Sadly not here. He's Italian and the women love him. He gets to play with their hair all day. What a great job. We were talking one time and he said "Don, all women are beautiful." Wow, I thought. It's true, all women are beautiful.

So for a long time I went around with this thought in my head.. All women are beautiful. What a wonderful thing.

Quite a while later I was sitting around one evening with a gal who happened to be a lesbian. Quite lovely herself. I don't remember how it came up in conversation but I said, "All women are beautiful." And she said, "No they aren't!" "They aren't?" no.

And that was that. All women aren't beautiful. I guess it just depends on your perspective.

The photo is of Natalia. A beautiful name also.

BTW. I guess her sister Lana Wood, (Svetlana Gurdin) was in the 1971 James Bond movie Diamonds Are Forever. She also posed nude for Playboy that year. Natalie protested her posing nude.

Also this is my 150th post. I've thought of 150 things to say. I'm going to have to think about that.

I think all women are beautiful in their own ways. Some women have beautiful looks while other women are beautiful through their personality. Beauty is so subjective.

I thought that saying a woman has a beautiful personality was a polite way of saying she was ugly!

Beauty is very subjective.

I agree, beauty is subjective. You can't be an artist and not confront this issue.

As a graphic artist, I spend all of my time trying to make things look good. We have to please the customers, and my ideas about what looks good are often different than what is popular or what the customer might like.

My ideas about beauty in women has changed over time, but I've always thougth Natalie Wood was beautiful. I have no idea what kind of a person she was. I'd like to think she was a nice person.

I'm curious about your ideas of beauty changing over time.

Do you feel that your ideas of beauty have been similar to society's ideas of beauty, or are they different?

Skinniness is something I find interesting as a beauty evaluator. Somehow the United States got tricked into thinking skinny meant trim. Women seem more attractive to me if they have a little muscle tone, which is hard to achieve on a bony frame.

I also recently read an article in Psychology Today about beauty and multiethnicity. I guess their theory on why multiethnic women are viewed as beautiful is that they have a more diverse set of genes than any of the races they come from, so genetically they're viewed as "healthier" than women who have a more limited racial background. Leave it up to the psychologists to make everything about sex!

My ideas are probably different, but it's not quite that simple. I'll send you and e-mail. But of course it is subjective.

Your post reminds me of the movie Shallow Hal. Have you seen it? I'm not saying it's a good movie (it's not), but he premise is kind of neat. On another note, all women are beautiful -- anyone that has ever seen a makeover knows this to be true.

I haven't seen that movie, but I'll keep an eye out for it if it comes on the television. I like movies that aren't good. The worse the better sometimes. So thanks for the heads up, and thanks for stopping in!

And yes, life was good when I went around thinking all women are beautiful. You must be Italian.

All women are beautiful - I need to feel that today and you brought that to me when I read your post - thank you.
When I read that your friend disagreed with you, my immediate though was that women have an immense potential for evil - we can be very hateful and that can make one decidedly un-beautiful. I wonder what happened to your friend that she saw this in someone - I hope she is healing.

Wow lily, that is very insightful of you. The woman who told me that had some very serious issues going on in her life. She had been in jail, I can't tell you why. She wasn't evil, but she got mixed up in things that were. I hope she is healing too.

I do believe that all women are beautiful. You are beautiful.

Thank you for stopping in.

Regardless of your sex, when you have love in your heart, you are beautiful. When you have hate in your heart, you are ugly.

Fact of life.
