Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Here's a picture of a woman stand up paddle boarding on Flathead Lake. Kind of captures the weather situation on Memorial Day in Western Montana.

I guess stand up paddle boarding is the answer to sitting down in a canoe or a kayak if you want to paddle.

I like to windsurf, and also enjoy the canoe, so I guess I can relate.. It's sort of interesting to watch anyway, and I'd much rather see this than someone on a personal watercraft making endless circles.

That looks so peaceful.

I'm sure it requires some awesome core muscles though. Not sure I could keep my balance!

You wouldn't want to fall in this time of year. That lake is cold!

Well that's something I've never seen before. You don't see that on the lakes here, I think there must be too many big speedy boats that create too much turbulence. It does look calm and relaxing though.

My mind's been thinking of looking at the practicalities of getting a kayak lately. I'm going to look into that and see what it's all about. I think it's something I'd like to do on my weekends off this summer. I'll let you know how that thought progresses!

Jules, a kayak would be a great thing to have. There are places I've been where paddle boarding woudln't be too popular with the rednecks.

Vixey, it's a fairly recent "sport". I've known of it but it's just now getting to Montana. Tribal is a good way to describe how it looks.
